American Satan

At lot of old rock and roll cliches without any new ones. Although I would not know a lot of new cliches, other than using You tube to earn fans, which was done in the film, but it was a lot like a more serious This is Spinal Tap, tapping on all the cliches so hard I’m surprise the principal drummer of the band was not killed and replaced with a new dude.
The Relentless becomes the newest band to make a deal with the devil for stardom and it comes at a price and if you know anything about rock n roll before the turn of the century it’s obvious what’s gonna going down in this picture.
I did love it. I’m a sucker for a film about the rise of the rock and roll band. I guess another modern cliche the movie goes over is the fact that the band members where playing and recording music even before they met, thanks to the internet. After that though it was all the classic of sex, drugs and, rock and roll.

Now I’m not sure how these new bands grove and I feel neither does the filmmaker because even thought it was a band of the present, with members all in their early 20s, everything felt so 1980s (More maybe sex, drugs and rock and Roll never get old (that’s most likely it!).

It feels like I’m complaining. I did love the movie it just felt oddly dated.
I loved Micheal McDowell as the devil. American Satan gives a great explanation of who he is and how he operates and how it all fits together which I found cool and intelligent.
Basically if you love rock and roll in general see American Satan.
A classic sex drugs and rock and roll story.
