The Marine 6: Close Quarters

A bit of a strange one for me.

As far as I’m concern this Marine franchise is full proof that no sequel can beat the original. John Cena in that original movie was one of the best action movies ever produced and everything after that is lesser in comparison, but I will say that the Miz was a better replacement for the Franchise than Ted DiBiase Jr. He’s a character in the ring and that charisma transfers over well to these movies.

Even with the first Marine movie I never thought about it as more than an action movie, but the idea that The Miz played Jake Carter in four of these joints does mean that it is possible that fans of these movies may have taken a liken to Jake similar to our liking to John McClain.

What am I getting at? Spoiler alert: Jake Carter dies in this movie. Interesting enough, the way he dies is sentimental. He was a good marine till the end and his end was to assure that his fellow marine (played by follow wrestler and icon Shawn Michaels) would be able to finish the mission of rescuing a girl from a group of mercenaries.

It was strangely touching for a mindless action movie. Like I said, I’ve seen all of Miz’s goes as the marine and while good he’s no Bruce Willis. I would probably cry some serious man tears if John McClain went out like a cowboy on the big screen. So, if you feel the same way about Jake Carter, I’m sorry I spoiled what would be a good moment if this is your Action hero. Afterall it’s the best part of a lackluster action movie which makes this a good movie cause I really did not see this coming. Out of all the Miz lead Marine movies this looked the cheapest. Most likely the heartbreak kid refused to come cheap.

Speaking of which, does this mean they are going to keep making Marine movies with Shawn Michaels? That would make sense because the Miz is still active in the ring and would not surprise if that’s why he was like no more marine flicks. No disrespect but I have to say that Michaels does look a little bit rusty. I know injurers caused him to quit wrestling and it shows in this film. Hopefully if he continues, he will put his ego to the side and get a stuntman to do his leg work (and just play the Kayfabe like it was him)
