Sleepless

Not Jamie Foxx’s strongest effort but an OK film.

If anyone remembers Jamie Foxx’s earlier attempts to be a leading man like Bait, this movie reminds of that but just a little better. It’s like he learned whatever lesson he needed to learn and applied it to this movie, yet still has much to learn.

Fox is attempting to be an action star in Sleepiness, don’t think he ever attempt this before or at lest not this straight forward. He drives the car fast, shoots the gun cool and gets to show of his fighting moves. It was a little off what I usually expect from Fox but he pulls it off with charm.

The film is very witty at times not afraid of poking fun at itself.

At the same time it’s a very instance polemic drama about the tangle weave of corruption.

The parts when Fox needed to be dramatic he handled just fine, but the movie could have used a better screenplay with better dialog, and the parts where Jamie needed to be funny of course were that. It was some of the action sequences. Fox still could use a few lessons on punching and kicking

Sure it’s not the first movie that Fox has stared in but it’s a different vibe from things like Collateral and Django Unchained, were Fox is starring in something as big as he is. Sleepless is a movie met to draw in people to see what Jamie Fox can do specifically, and it’s an OK film for that reason.
