The Bye Bye Man

I know that I can’t take no more It ain’t no lie I wanna see you out that door
Baby, bye, bye, bye…

Ok, was it so bad that I had to do the N’SYNC reference for it? Maybe. I definitely have seen better.

It’s a little dumb and a lot corny, which makes for a bad combo.

It tries to amp up the crazy in these ghost horror films and only ends up coming off crazy by doing so.

It does start off just right. doing everything we were hoping the whole movie was going be, just an intense craziness, that makes you go Wow, with this flash back about how this ghost effected peoples lives in the 1960s.

Then we come to modern times, and the movie starts to suck as we get to know three college age teenagers and their encounter with a ghost who when you say his name, starts you on this path of instantly, and like a chain letter if you mention this ghost to anyone they will start to feel the burn and nothing can stop him until you are dead.

The Bye Bye Man himself was not a bad concept, but trying to fully pull off can be difficult as this movie proves.

It’s apart of that genre of ghost tales where it’s about what goes bump in the night and how that jumps you out of your seat, which it didn’t. It gets you with the superficial something is in the corner fright that anyone who paid to see the movie would want to experience, but it does not take long to get use to the Bye Bye man, and then what? The insanity that they are trying to pull of  was funny, but not that impressive.
