The Camando

Yeah, this movie could have been so much better.

It’s one of those movies in which they use names like Michael Jai White, Mickey Rourke and Jeff Fahey to sell the movie, but in fact they are not in the movie as much as you think. White is definitely the said Commando in the title, as the plot revolves around his character, a DEA agent, trying to get over PTSD, but this part of the movie was more about the characters persona, as the real plot was about Mickey Rourke getting out of jail and trying to get back a lot of money, he happens to hide in the DEA agent’s house before he got there. It’s strange how White was almost not involved in this home invasion part of the movie, which is the whole movie, even weirder how little Rourke had to do with this plot.

The film may have been just cut together strangely to perceive this, with the exception of Fahey who was definitely just tossed in to add some star power in a role anyone could have played. The worst part is that the trailer made me think The Commando was the return to White doing more martial arts action. It’s been a while and after watching this movie, I’m still waiting. I mean I realize he’s older than he looks so I might not get the jump kicks that I got from Blood and Bone of Falcon Rising anymore.

Ahh, the good old days.

That disappointment is little in comparison to Rourke’s face. What is happening to this man? I almost thought this was going to be a Sci-fi flick and Rourke was playing a mutant monster (I will say, I did get an enjoyable but small fight scene with Rourke so…).

I thought it was that when looking up The Commando on Amazon, Commando, the Schwarzenegger joint also popped up. Cause Commando is soooo much better than this movie in every way. Not that The Commando is not a good movie, just a disappointment from what in comparison to what I was expecting based on who’s in it and what I was expecting from the trailer (but isn’t that always the case with trailers?)
