Howling IV: The Original Nightmare

I am told that this sequel is actually the most faithful adaption from the books the movies are based on. If that is true I can see why the original movie’s director Joe Donte decided against doing a straight up adaption. This movie was a Nightmare. It almost bored me to death.

The Original Nightmare steps out of the Howling franchise a little by being a very serious film. Most of the other films have a least a little Tongue and cheek to go with the Horror of Werewolves, but this one was very straight lace and could have really used some antidotes to pick up the pace.

I did read that the film was plagued with creative defenses that I’m sure greatly effected the quality of the film, but still, Mr. Dante made the right choice to be looser with his adaption.
