Prom Night IV: Deliver Us from Evil

So I looked up the original Prom Night, which I did not remember  Leslie Nielsen was in. the only thing I really remember of the movie is the disco song that came along with it “Prom night, everything is alright” catchy. Seems out of place for a horror movie but not really. All horror movies should be up on what the kids like cause that who it’s for and who it’s about.

Anyway, I  should have saw Prom night again before going all the way up to four, but I herd that there was a great shower scene in this one (Men will fall for anything). This movie was more serious in tone than I was thinking. I mean, if the only thing I remember from prom night is the disco song, it does mean I expecting a tone that would match this.

Number four tries to go outside the box of what Prom Night is about, meaning the kids are all set up to go to the prom and then decide to instead have a cozy party in a cabin in the woods. It’s like they were asking for it when a maniac priest decides that kids fucking during prom night is unholy and goes on a murderous spree.

The plot sings an awareness of how slasher movies work and it sings this song all the way to the end, with plenty of “don’t go in there you stupid bitch!” moments and ofcourse a shower scene after sex that leads to death. Plus spoiler alert (not really) the virgin final girl who stayed alive cause she never gave up that kitty, even though she was being temped, like a good Catholic girls he kept her close on and was somehow able to survive a mad man’s rage. It’s like wow they got the formula down pack.

So while the formula is good and tight, nothing about this movie really stands out enough to be memorable.
