Is That a Gun in Your Pocket?

Straight up comedy with a message.

Not a coincidence that this movie seems oddly familiar to Spike Lee’s Chi-Raq as both are modern day takes on the Greek play Lysistrata by Aristophanes. It’s like both films are on two different sides of the spectrum with Chi-Raq being on the darker side, while Is that a Gun in your Pocket being more lighter.

Taking place in Texas, after two kids accidentally shoot a man non lethally, the women in a small town decided to stop having sex with their men until they get rid of their guns.

Seems like a difficult task in a place like Texas, and this movie is far more liberal than I would have expected a movie about gun control in Texas would be, but I guess the point is if they can do it in Texas they can do it anywhere.

It does seem like a fantasy, but the message is clear and should be told. The point comes across in an entertaining way.

Very impressive how both Chi-Raq and Is that a Gun in your Pocket can tell such a similar message in two very different ways.
