Falcon Rising

It’s no Blood and Bone, but it made you think it was going to be. It does has it’s moments. The great Micheal Jai White plays a ex-soldier about to blow his brains out due to shell shock, when he hears his sister (played by Leah Ali) got hurt doing some social work in a very dangerous part of Brazil. So of course he goes down to Rio to find out what happen.

Now the fact that it takes place in Brazil means that capoeira will be evolved so already this movie is starting off on the right track and to prove this, once we get to Brazil A capoeira fight happens between a cop and a street thug, and already I know that the cop has to be corrupt somehow because his capoeira skills are too on point for there not to be a battle between White and this dude, who I’ve seen do capoeira moves in other movies, like Tekken, so now the whole movie I’m just waiting for this fight to begin.

For the most part it was a cut and dry action movie, but when  Mr. White got started taking out the suckas, it was pure gold. This cat had me jonzing for it. His style is all power and reflexes. When you attack, he’s reacted far too fast and with such power that your move means nothing to him. Hardcore.

I must admit the end game final fight was not what I was expecting, but still really good.

Good movie to see, definitely if you are a fan of Micheal Jai White, but if you have not seen Blood and Bone yet, see that over this.
