The Big Sick

Seemed like a strange title at first, but then it made sense as I started to watch. It’s about a Pakistani comedian who dates a white girl, he can’t see himself growing old with because of his family tradition of arrange marriage that would not allow it, but he starts to think about it after she gets sick mysteriously and waits patently with the girls parents for her to come around.

As I was watching the movie I thought it was far too cliche that the main character was a comic. That is until I discovered that the movie is totally based on  comic, Kumail Nanjiani actual Hollywood ending, which made the movie far sweeter.

Nothing like watching Indian comics talk about relationships. It’s the best part of Aziz Ansari‘s Netflix series, Master of None. How are they able to make the average relationship seem so entertaining?

Plus Ray Romano is in it. Very funny guy.

The formula works perfectly.

Overall, excellent comedy, a lot of fun.
