The House

The House wins!?
Will Ferrell and Amy Poehler are a pair of Jokers that make a winning hand. Mirroring the issues of American society, the two Saturday Night Live alums play parents with a daughter going to college and they thought they had it all locked down until her scholarship is taken from them, and they discover they cannot pay for her education, so they came up with the idea of opening up a casino to make the money needed.

The other cards on the hand are the hilarious Jason Mantzoukas who plays Ferrell and Poehler’s best friend who just got divorce from his wife due to his gambling addiction which makes it ironic that he’s helping run the house, but this guy is crazy funny. Some of the best laughs are coming when he’s in the room.
Also Nick Knoll is in the movie seemingly doing what he seems to do best and that’s play a jerk, which always puts a smile on my face.
The House is actually made up of a series of really funny people, some I know by name, some I just seen before do standup or sketch comedy. A lot of them in small roles met to only bombard the movie with all sorts of jokes. It’s like they keep firing these funny people at every angle to guarantee a cheap laugh. It works, but for all that fire power the movie could have been funnier. I’m surprise the role they gave Jeremy Reimmer was not given to a famous actor who was more known for being funny.

The House is totally designed for some cheap laughs and it works. I did laugh.
